The 2019 Regan-Turner Cycling Adventure on the Erie Canal: Riding Day 1 Lockport, NY - Lakeside Beach State Park , Waterloo, NY ( 36 miles)

Everyone is getting ready to ride and me to drive the van. For our first day's destination we will be riding to a lunchspot in Medina, about 20 miles out, then leaving the Erie Canal Bike Trail for the back roads to take us up to Lakeside Beach State Park on Lake Ontario.

David and Christopher- Friends from way back! David is still the self-assured rider he was two years ago. Christpher has found a new self confidence on the bike and on the trip in general. Gone were the days when I had to drag him out of the tent every morning. He packed up his gear and was off to ask others if they needed help. Bike adventures like this one bring out the best in people!

The kids stop for a mid-morning break on ride to Medina, NY

I managed to make it with the van and trailer to the park in Medina, NY! Here we are
at our first lunch stop. After lunch, I pack up and head up the road to secure the campsites.
The riders have opted to go "off trail" because part of the morning was on sandy and unpacked gravel, which made for some tough riding.
